Every first Friday of the month in Hood River we have an open air downtown artist's event called First Friday (go figure right?!?! haha). At this event, there is always live music, friends, food, entertainment, and of course lots of different artists on Oak street sharing and selling their stuff.

April 6th was the kick off First Friday for this Spring/Summer season in the Hood, and there was a group there called Helping Hands Against Violence, getting the word out about just how many women in Hood River County have been victims of forcible rape at some point in their lifetime. 1,777 women in Hood River County have been abused in this regard. It was crazy to see such a large number reflected through the tealights spread out over the library lawn. It gave such a relevant, dramatic visual of just how big a number that truly is.
