1 Cor. 13:4-7
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps on going to the end.
This is so tight....I highly enjoy reading amazing passages out of The Message because in contemporary language they just seem to shout out at me!!!! I'm reading through 1 Corinthians right now and I love Eugene Peterson's vocab on this passage. I think he hit it dead on. Good stuff!!!!

"Salvation does not mean merely deliverance from the sin or the experience of personal holiness. The salvation which comes from God means being completely delivered from myself, and being placed into perfect union with Him. When I think of my salvation experience, I think of being delivered from sin and gaining personal holiness, but salvation is so much more! It means that the Spirit of God has brought me into intimate contact with the true Person of God Himself. And as I am caught up into total surrender to God, I become thrilled with something infinitely greater than myself. " ~Oswald Chambers
